Dr Athanasios Diamantopoulos

Consultant Interventional Radiologist

MD, Ph.D, EBIR, FCIRSE, FRCR

Dr Athanasios Diamantopoulos is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital (GSTT) and a Clinical Senior Lecturer (Hon) at Kings College London (KCL). He is currently the co-lead for the South-East London sector for Interventional radiology and the deputy lead for research and development of the directorate of clinical imaging and medical physics at GSTT. He has over 18 years of experience in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and is a specialist in critical limb ischemia. He has published more than 100 original papers in peer reviewed journals and has been invited numerous times to deliver lectures in his field of expertise. He is the chief national or primary investigator in a number of commercial and NHIR funded studies.

Dr Diamantopoulos has held various management and research roles in international societies and professional bodies in Radiology. He is currently appointed as an advisory board member of the CIRSE Next research, a board member of the IASIOS accreditation, an elected member of the CIRSE membership committee, a council member for the society of Anaesthesia in Radiology (SAR), and a strategic council member of the All parties parliamentary group for minimal invasive therapies. Dr Diamantopoulos has received several awards and distinctions, the 2011 CVIR Editor’s Medal 2011 for best publication, 8 Featured abstracts in International Conferences and the title of Fellow of CIRSE.
